We've started serving Google Ads on the homepage to try and offset the increasingly high costs of running the site. Please feedback here on how you’re finding this and in particular, if the impact on the UX is unbearable. There’s an alternative map you can use (without Google Ads) that uses the free OpenStreetMap instead of the chargeable Google Maps / Google Street View service HERE.
