The truth about UK migrants and asylum seekers

Facts and figures on the asylum and migration crisis facing the UK today including a UK migrant hotel list.

Migrant Hotel Locations

The UK government doesn’t publish an official UK migrant hotel list – it says the rights of illegal migrants are more important than those of the communities in which they’re housed.

However, you can find details of those we are aware of on the map below. You can zoom in and out and move around. Click on a pin to show the name of the establishment and a picture from Google Street View. The map is also searchable by location (e.g. postcode or city).

CAUTION: This data is open-sourced. We give no guarantees as to its currency, accuracy or completeness. It should absolutely not be used for illegal or nefarious purposes, nor should it be used to assist in the organisation of protests, or to facilitate actions that might harass, threaten or otherwise disturb hotel residents, staff, security personnel or the police.

See below for details on how you can help keep this data up-to-date or click HERE. Please also use this form to report issues with the site, e.g. the map not working.

NEW! Website / Database Last Updated: 10 October 2025 – you can find details of what’s changed with this update by clicking HERE.

BOAT & WAVE TRACKER: Please checkout our new boat tracker. You can access it from the main menu under BOAT TRACKER or directly HERE. We’ve also added a new WAVE HEIGHT TRACKER so you see when crossings are most likely. The map also automatically flags potential migrant “rescues” from the UK Border Force and the RNLI.

Migrants in Hotels in Numbers

The government’s own numbers on migrant hotel usage are eye-watering.

Labour’s Accommodation Strategy: this appears to be focussed on moving migrants out of (expensive) hotels and into (cheaper) accommodation, such as homes of multiple occupancy (HMOs). This should reduce cost per room, but if the number of migrants being housed continues to rise, so may the total daily accommodation cost. Crucially, this strategy will further distribute the migrant population around the UK making it much harder for the public to know where they are.

Latest Numbers: These numbers were published by the government on 21 August 2025. They show an 8% increase (not decrease) in the numbers of migrants in hotels since June 2024. You can see the raw data for yourself at GOV.UK by clicking HERE

Total Migrants in Numbers Since 2018

These numbers reflect the total number of migrants arriving by boat since January 2018.

Help Us Keep The Map Updated

The data on this page comes from a mix of public data (e.g. media reports, FOI requests, social media, etc.) and crucially reports from members of the public. If you see a new migrant hotel or HMO in your area and it’s not on our map, please tell us using this form. Your privacy is assured.

Your Privacy

We treat all submissions with the strictest confidence and delete them as soon as they’re read/processed. You don’t have to give us your real name and address – the form doesn’t validate those. However, we obviously can’t reply to you if you wish us to do so and you don’t include a valid email address.

Thank you for supporting The Migrant Brief.

Why Migrants Love the UK

In a word… benefits. We (or rather our government on our behalf) bestow an extremely generous set of benefits on illegal migrants as soon as they claim asylum in the UK. You can find a full list of what they get by clicking the link below.

A word of warning… if you’ve ever gone hungry, struggled to feed the kids, make the rent, get a doctor’s/dentist appointment, or afford the latest iPhone, you might not want to look.

What You Can Do

Help us maintain hotel data on this site

We crowdsource hotel data. You can help keep this up-to-date by providing us with intelligence on migrant sites.

Help us establish a HMO database

There is even less data on homes of multiple occupancy (HMOs) than there is on hotels. You can help us create an HMO database.

One of the main objectives of this site is to inform the public about locations being used to house migrants in their area. The sites are not classified or officially secret, but the government refuses to publish an official list of them. We believe the people paying for these facilities have a right to know where they are.
